Lead Software Engineer (Java/FIX/Equities)
We are seeking a Lead FIX Connectivity Engineer to support and enhance a mission-critical electronic trading environment. This role is responsible for managing FIX connectivity, client onboarding, production support, and trading infrastructure while serving as a key technical partner to internal trading teams and external clients. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in FIX protocol, electronic trading systems, and financial markets, along with a strong customer service mindset and the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain FIX connectivity, order routing, and trading platform infrastructure across a global client base
- Lead new client onboarding, connectivity certification, and system configuration for FIX trading sessions
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to FIX messaging, OMS platforms, trading connectivity, and market access
- Partner with trading, development, QA, infrastructure, and production support teams to deliver reliable trading solutions and platform enhancements
- Manage client connectivity projects, platform migrations, configuration changes, and ongoing system improvements
- Translate business and client requirements into technical solutions while ensuring high levels of platform stability and service quality
- Mentor team members and provide technical leadership on FIX engineering best practices and connectivity architecture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5–10 years of experience supporting FIX connectivity within financial services
- Deep expertise in FIX Protocol, electronic trading, and client onboarding
- Experience supporting OMS/EMS platforms, market connectivity, and trading infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Java, UNIX/Linux, SQL, XML, and enterprise messaging technologies
- Experience with FIX engines, third-party trading networks, and market access platforms
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients, traders, and cross-functional technical teams
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience is preferred
