Field Service Engineer

Field Service Engineers are responsible for the installation and support of complex electronic hardware utilized for tracking of mobile assets in a variety of environments.  This role requires extensive overnight travel, excellent customer service skills, and a background in the installation and support of electromechanical devices.  This is a remote based role, with extensive travel and needs to be located within 30-60 minutes of an airport.  Comp is base salary + per diem. 

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and replace complex electronic hardware on industrial equipment in a variety of operating environments
  • Install, replace, configure, and maintain various hardware and software communication devices
  • Provide detailed documentation of all customer site visits
  • Analyze and troubleshoot hardware
  • Provide training and excellent customer service and support to a variety of Fortune 500 clients
  • Extensive travel throughout the North America providing installation, technical, and training support is required (infrequent travel abroad may be required)

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-year Electronics degree or equivalent work experience installing telematics systems
  • 2-3+ years of experience as an electronics technician with previous automobile or forklift mechanic experience preferred; excellent electro-mechanical skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication, as well as presentation skills
  • Ability to travel out of state 90% of the time
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be able to provide detailed documentation of customer site visits
  • Basic knowledge of wireless networking technology
  • Clean driving record for last three years
  • Must have current passport or ability to obtain passport within 60 days of hire
  • Must be proficient in the operation of multi-meter, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope
  • Ability to read, understand and draw basic electrical schematics
  • Must have the unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
