Job Description & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to help us use the latest technology to build apps, microservices and web UIs that bring the service industry together to succeed in work and life. As a Senior Java Backend Engineer, you will work closely with product management and engineering teams to ensure our products are built and maintained with world-class quality and scalability.

What You’ll Do

• Own core pieces of our product technologies
• Collaborate with Product Management and Development team members on technical design and problem solving to come up with compelling solutions to problems.
• Work as an integral member of an agile software delivery team, emphasizing continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Own all aspects of implementation for features from design to development, deployment to production, and support and maintenance.
• Develop, review and debug code, following a high standard for quality code, test coverage, comments, collaboration, and avoiding shortcuts
• Demonstrate your passion for clean, maintainable code and continuously look to always improve your engineering skills in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies
• Bring a passion to mentor and guide engineers at all levels (Define, evangelize and mentor on best practices and coding standards.)

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience
• Proven track record of building high volume products at scale
• Drive and flexibility to roll up your sleeves and work hard (and have fun) in a fast-moving startup environment
• Expert level knowledge in Java (Spring)
• Working knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js is a bonus
• Proficient in writing SQL queries – Knowledge and previous experience in writing optimized SQL queries is an added advantage.
• Experience with performance and CDN caching strategies preferably in a cloud environment.
• Expertise in RESTFul API design and demonstrated abilities in building API microservices are a must.
• Experience in a system like GraphQL is an added advantage.
• Experience with server-driven UI architectures and patterns.
• Strong product sense to balance technical limitations and product requirements to develop a quality experience for users.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines is required (Jenkins, CircleCI etc.).
• Experience in converting and running applications in a containerized environment is an added advantage.
