UI Designer
Our client, a design firm working with a nutrition and weight management company, is on the search for a UI Designer to support their team. The User Interface Designer will transform initial concepts and ideas into high-fidelity visual designs and prototypes.
In this role you will help map how users can easily move through applications to achieve their goals. You will team up with UX researchers to organize information and establish a content hierarchy based on how users search and find content. Through drawing and whiteboarding sessions, you’ll collaborate with functional teams to define how users reach the path of success. You’ll create wireframes and rapid prototypes in an Agile environment to allow for iterative testing and get stakeholder buy-in. With strong attention to detail and a savvy knowledge of web standards, trends and usability, you'll help evangelize UX & UI across all web and mobile products.
Please note this is a 6-month full-time freelance opportunity with an immediate start date and potential to extend. This position will start on a remote basis due to social distancing guidelines but will move to in-office as soon as it is safe to do so.

With strong attention to detail and a savvy knowledge of web standards, trends and usability, you'll help evangelize UX & UI across all web and mobile products.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Acts as the caretaker for the information architecture and navigation structure that supports the recommended content strategy
- Create, improve and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods.
- Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.)
- Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry’s standards.
- Leverage data, testing, competitive and comparative experiences and customer insight to constantly iterate on the products
- Adopts Agile principles to work collaboratively with others to refine and release a proposed design incrementally
- Supports the user experience optimization of all existing online properties and Member tools, mobile, email, social media, and other new technology, using business analytics and partnering with other global and regional teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
- Organizes information and establish content hierarchy based on the user’s conceptual model
- Map how users can easily move through a product to achieve their goals
- Facilitating whiteboard sessions to define the user models and user interface for new features
- Experience designing and building products and features on native mobile applications and responsive web
- Ability to support a project from concept to wire-frames to rapid prototyping
- Proficiency in design/prototyping tools such as Sketch, Invision, and Adobe CC
- Familiarity with Lean UX and Agile methodology
- A desire to stay current with web trends and standards
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, multitasking and presentation skills
- Ability to solve problems and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Highly motivated and organized
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in UI Design and strong knowledge of current web standards, technologies, and trends
- 2+ years of experience in rapid prototyping and strong familiarity with design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries
- Portfolio of original and breakthrough work with demonstrated documentation of those experiences
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience with high school diploma
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with Lean UX and Agile methodology
- Experience partnering with UX Research to amplify research and design impact
- Knowledge of collaborative tools such as Confluence and Trello
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, or related field
